This is my fathers side of the tree - enjoy Nancy Eckert

Welcome! Our earliest family genealogist that I'm aware of was Alfred Dorey  b.1907 who kept a small diary with hand written notes of births, death, and  marriages painstakingly copied from newspapers and other sources. The book has  been passed down through several generations, as has precious photos.  My  Mother Adele Dorey and my namesake Aunt Eileen Rodgers took up the genealogy  cause on our trip we took back to Guernsey and I grew interested then, in what  they were doing.

It wasn't until my father Harold Eckert U.E. talked about his interest in  proving his United Empire Loyalist Lineage that I understood it was something  meaningful I could do for him. I started my search in 1989. Proving our  Loyalist Lineage under Jacob Ball Sr. was only the beginning. Not only did I  find genealogy interesting and rewarding. I seemed to have a knack for it :)

I have found that genealogy provides me with a unique way, to be able to look  through a window, into the lives of my ancestors. 
 It continues to be an enlightening reminder of times of unbelievable hardships  having to endure with little more than hope, caring, sharing and love. Also  the good times of celebrations, weddings, baby's being born, Birthdays being  celebrated. It's good to know where you've come from to help you light a path  to where you are going.
